Madan Lal, a former cricket player from India, wanted Virat Kohli to think again about stopping his career, just a day after they lost badly to England during the third game at Lords. India could have been ahead by 2-1 in the set of five games but they were unable to win. Kohli had announced he would stop playing the longest type of game before the Test games started. Madan Lal said that it is okay to change his thinking, and he asked the experienced player to give his knowledge and love of the game to the younger players. "Virat Kohli showed a lot of excitement for Indian cricket. I hope he plays Test cricket again after stopping. It is okay to come back. If it is not this time, he should come back next time," Madan Lal said.

"I believe that he should undo his stopping. He could easily play for another 1-2 years. It is about giving your knowledge to the younger people. You just left it behind. It is not too late. Please come back," he mentioned.

Shubman Gill did not look as "technically sound" and seemed like he wasn’t as relaxed as normal when he was batting during the second half of the third Test, according to Michael Vaughan, a former England captain, who also said good things about how hard the visitors tried on the last day at Lords. Gill has done great during the games, getting 100 runs in the first Test at Headingley and breaking many records while getting 100 and 200 runs in Birmingham, which India won by 336 runs. However, he only got 16 and 6 runs in the Lords Test, which India lost by 22 runs even though Ravindra Jadeja, who is good at everything, and the batsmen at the end of the order, tried hard.

"When the game became very close on the third evening, I felt that it made England play their best for the rest of the game. Shubman Gill did not seem as technically good or relaxed as he usually does when he was batting on the fourth evening, but his team did their best on Monday in an amazing Test," Vaughan wrote in his article.
