Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, which is the highest civilian award in Norway. The Grand Cross is the highest level within the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit. It is given to acknowledge remarkable service and efforts to enhance relationships between nations and promote global collaboration. With this recognition, PM Modi has now earned his 32nd international award from various countries, showcasing India's increasing involvement on the world stage and diplomatic efforts.

The Royal Norwegian Order of Merit was established by King Olav V in 1985. It is granted to both foreign and Norwegian citizens as an acknowledgment of their significant contributions for the benefit of Norway and humanity, according to information from The Royal House of Norway's website. The honor was presented to the Indian leader during his visit to Norway, marking the first time in 43 years that a sitting Indian Prime Minister has traveled to the country. This recognition comes just one day after Prime Minister Modi was honored with Sweden’s distinguished Royal Order of Polar Star Commander Grand Cross.
