Meta is reportedly trying out a new option that could help users watch videos that are part of a series more easily. This feature, known as Series, is said to be aimed at people who enjoy Instagram and Facebook Reels. A report suggests that it might let creators organize related Reels into one specific collection, making it possible for viewers to watch episodes in order and keep track of ongoing series. Currently, the feature is being tested with a small group of creators.

According to TechCrunch, the Series option being developed will enable creators to combine both new and older Reels into a single collection. Each Reel will likely be treated as an episode within a larger series. At the same time, all these videos are expected to be easy to find on a special page on the creator's profile. The report mentions that Meta believes this feature aims to enhance how viewers experience serialized content. It might be especially helpful for tutorials, educational videos, challenges, storytelling styles, and reviews that span multiple parts. These types of content rely on a clear connection between the videos.

For instance, a creator working on a series of videos over several days, whether for a challenge, tutorial, or educational purpose, could potentially gather all related videos together. This approach would likely make it simpler for followers to discover and watch every episode in the correct order. Users will be able to find an option to view the entire series and explore related videos while browsing through Instagram or Facebook Reels, according to the report. They can also save a series to watch later or return to it when new episodes are released.

It's worth noting that TikTok, which competes directly with Meta in the realm of short videos, introduced a Series feature in 2023. While Meta is focusing on organizing content rather than making money from it right now, the company told TechCrunch that they are already looking into possible ways to earn revenue from this feature in the future. However, Meta has not shared any specific plans publicly. As of now, the Series feature from Meta is still limited to a select few creators who already make serialized content on Instagram and Facebook. The company has not yet provided information about when it will be available to a larger audience.
