Samsung is reported to have discreetly changed the price of its top foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, in the United States. This device, which debuted in July 2025, is anticipated to be replaced soon by a newer version. Usually, customers expect older models to see lower prices before a new one is released. However, some versions of the current foldable have actually gone up in price, as the South Korean technology company has taken a different strategy this time. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 now has higher prices for certain storage options in the U. S. It was originally introduced with a starting cost of $1,999.99, which is around Rs. 1,86,600, for the 256GB version. In contrast, the 512GB and 1TB versions were priced at $2,119.99, or about Rs. 1,97,800, and $2,419.99, or roughly Rs. 2,25,800, respectively. The price for the 1TB version has now been raised to $2,499.99, an increase of $80, or around Rs. 7,500. The 512GB version has also increased by $80, now costing $2,199.99, which is about Rs. 2,05,000. These updated prices can now be seen on the Samsung U. S. website.

On the other hand, the entry-level 256GB version remains at $1,999.99, meaning its price has not changed since it first launched. This price change is significant since it occurs just as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be followed by a new model in the next few months. This comes after recent news of price increases on various Galaxy A and F series smartphones in India. Low-cost and mid-range phones like the Galaxy A06, Galaxy A36, Galaxy A56, and the Galaxy F17 series have seen increases in their prices as well. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy A06 had a price rise of Rs. 1,000, which brought its new price to Rs. 13,499. Similarly, the Galaxy A07 experienced a somewhat larger increase of Rs. 1,250, raising its price to Rs. 10,999. Additionally, the company introduced the Galaxy S26 series at higher prices than the earlier models. The standard Galaxy S26 starts at Rs. 87,999 for the basic 256GB version, up from the Galaxy S25's starting price of Rs. 80,999. Moreover, the Plus version saw an even more substantial price jump, going from Rs. 99,999 to Rs. 1,19,999.

Although Samsung has not officially shared the reasons for these price increases, trends in the industry suggest that rising costs of parts like DRAM and storage are driven partly by the increasing demand from AI and data center uses.
