The maker of actor Vijay's highly anticipated final film, Jana Nayagan, has taken a new legal action in their ongoing effort for certification. KVN Productions has gone to the Madras High Court to withdraw their request against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), aiming to speed up the film's release by addressing the issue through the appropriate censor procedures. The Madras High Court is scheduled to hear the withdrawal request made by the producer of Jana Nayagan tomorrow. The representative of KVN Production LLP, Vijayan Subramanian, has submitted a letter to the court's registry, indicating the producer's desire to drop the writ petition against the CBFC. The production company has now decided to present the film for examination by the CBFC's Revising Committee. Reports suggest that this decision was made to prevent additional delays and to obtain certification as soon as possible. Jana Nayagan, which was originally set to be released on January 9, faced a delay over certification issues. Previously, the Examination Committee of the CBFC reportedly suggested that certification should be granted. Nonetheless, the film was later sent to the Revising Committee by the Chairman due to concerns raised by a committee member. This action led KVN Productions to seek legal assistance.

Even with the court case still ongoing, the producers have decided to move forward with the process involving the revising committee, hoping that a smooth review will result in an early approval and a new announcement for the release date. The certification conflict has experienced many changes in the Madras High Court. At first, a single judge ordered the CBFC to provide certification for Jana Nayagan, supporting the production team's request. However, the CBFC contested this order, causing the case to be taken up by a Division Bench made up of two judges. This bench put a hold on the single judge's order, stating that the censor board didn’t have enough time to submit its response. The Division Bench then sent the case back to the single judge, instructing the court to resolve the issue after giving the CBFC sufficient time to reply. Following this event, KVN Productions reconsidered its legal stance and decided to seek certification through the revising committee while still exploring its legal options. The CBFC has insisted that the Chairman has the power to send a film for further review, especially when concerns arise during the evaluation process.
