Last night, India successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the death of seven terrorists. According to the Border Security Force (BSF), the Pakistan Rangers were assisting the infiltration by firing from the Dhandhar post across the border. The military response from India also inflicted damage on the Pakistani post. The BSF reported that the terrorist group was identified by their surveillance systems during the night between May 8 and 9 while attempting to cross into the Samba Sector. “Vigilant BSF troops thwarted the infiltration attempt, taking down at least seven terrorists and causing significant destruction to the Dhandhar Pakistani post,” stated the force, along with footage showing the damage to the military installation.

This incident highlights a recurrent pattern of Pakistani military support for terrorists trying to cross into Indian territory and underscores Pakistan’s designation as a hub for global terrorism. India has consistently charged Pakistan with sheltering terrorists. The recent infiltration follows a series of unsuccessful aerial assaults targeting military installations and urban areas in India near the border and the Line of Control. Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur military bases, as well as cities in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Punjab, were specifically in the sights of these strikes. However, all of the missiles and drones launched by Pakistan were successfully intercepted, with no reported casualties or losses. Following this, Pakistani forces resumed their fire towards Indian posts and nearby villages, prompting a robust retaliatory response from Indian troops, who destroyed several Pakistani Army positions.

Local administrations enacted a blackout throughout the night in border-adjacent cities, including Jammu and Srinagar, and in various areas of Punjab and Rajasthan. In the early morning hours, air raid sirens sounded in Chandigarh following a warning from the area’s Air Force Station, alerting residents to a potential attack and advising them to stay indoors and away from balconies. Moreover, at least 24 airports have been closed to safeguard travelers.
