
The festival of Ugadi is the New Year's Day for the people of the Deccan region of India.It has its origin in the Sanskrit word “Yugadi”, yuga (age) and ādi (beginning) that means ‘starting of a new Yuga or period’.
The festival of Ugadi is celebrated by decorating the temples with fresh flowers and mango leaves. After decoration, all the members of the family gather and pray together seeking blessings from the Almighty, on the Ugadi festival.

Telugu Association of Greater Boston is organizing Durmukhi Nama Samvatsara Ugadi Celebration on Saturday,16 April 2016 at the Burlington High School 123 Cambridge Street Burlington, MA 01803. The event is scheduled to be begin at 2:00 Pm and will be continued till 9:00 Pm.
According to the organizers, entry will be free of cost for the members of the association, while the outsiders need to pay $10. Association members have to pay $10 to participate in the event, while non-members will required to pay $15 to attend the program. The program highlights are dance, music, jokes and celebration of the traditional New Year.
