A man accused for kidnapping, assaulting and raping a woman in Brockton is a registered sex offender, according to the state records.
Nathaniel Simmons, aged 49, was arraigned before a judge in the Taunton District Court on Friday. Through his attorney, Simmons pleaded not guilty.
Defense attorney Ken Fredette told to WCVB, “he is charged with 13 different things in this case. He denies that a good number of those charges occurred.”
Simmons was ordered without a bail while waiting for a dangerous hearing on Monday.
According to the police report, the victim is a homeless woman who was searching for an earring in parking lot of the downtown convenience store on Wednesday.
She told to officers that Simmons drove up and offered her $50 to smoke crack and perform the sex act.
After she got into the car, Simmons allegedly covered the woman’s eyes with a hat and eventually drove her to the Walmart on Broadway where he forced her to wear a negligee, molested her, and burnt her with a cigarette and bit her on the thigh.

Police said that the victim eventually managed to kick her way free and ran into the Walmart for help.
Simmons fled in his vehicle and led the police on a chase until he crashed near the corner of King Phillip Street and South Main Street in Raynham.
According to the online state database, Simmons is a level 3 sex offender who was convicted for multiple rapes during the 1990’s.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said that when Simmons was set to be released in 2008, the office filed a sexually dangerous person petition, which the judge agreed with. Simmons was committed to a treatment center at the Bridgewater for one year to life. The center is supposed to review his progress every year.
No one answered the door when a reporter knocked at his home on Friday afternoon and neighbors said they rarely see the people who live there.
