$18 million pay raise bill approved by Massachusetts lawmakers, which would be provided in annual pay raises for top legislators, has been vetoed by Republican Governor, Charlie Baker.

On Friday, 27th Jan, 2017, Baker called the hike as “fiscally irresponsible”.On Thursday, the Democrat controlled Senate voted, 31-9 in favor of the legislation, a day after the House approved it by 115-44 votes. It is a large enough margin, in both the chambers, to override Baker’s veto.

Clerk Feared For His Life, Fired At A Robber 

Democrats, House Speaker Robert DeLeo, and Senate President Stan Rosenberg, annual salary would climb about $45,000 to mare than $142,000, a year.

The bill would hike, Baker’s annual salary from, $151,800 TO $185,000, for the first time, a governor would be provided with $65,000 housing allowance.
