Thiruvananthapuram has become the quickest growing place for foreign visitors in India, according to a new travel trends report from Agoda. This information is part of the platform's yearly ranking called New Horizons, which monitors changes in hotel bookings to spot places that are attracting more travelers. The report provides a glimpse into the changing travel habits of people both in India and around the world, especially as tourists start to explore places beyond the usual popular spots. Instead of just counting how many visitors there are, the ranking focuses on growth: cities and areas that are rapidly rising each year. In addition to Thiruvananthapuram's strong performance for incoming tourists, the report also notes that there are shifts in domestic travel habits, with more Indian travelers showing interest in newer international locations. Out of all the places in India for foreign visitors, Thiruvananthapuram showed the biggest increase in interest. The city moved up 11 spots in Agoda's ranking, going from 33rd in 2024 to 22nd in 2025, making it the fastest growing spot in the country for international bookings.

On the local side, Indore was recognized as the most trending destination for Indian travelers. The city rose seven positions in the rankings, moving from 35th in 2024 to 28th in 2025, showing a clear rise in domestic travel interest. The data indicates a larger trend of looking towards up-and-coming Indian cities instead of just the well-known vacation spots. The growing popularity of Indore is often connected to its rich food culture, good city infrastructure, cleanliness rankings, and its identity as a modern city with a historical background—factors that are playing an important role in weekend trips and city breaks within India. For international travel, Almaty became the fastest-growing destination for Indian travelers. The city in Kazakhstan jumped 12 spots, from 47th in 2024 to 35th in 2025, reflecting the largest growth in bookings by Indians going abroad. This increase indicates a rising interest in less traditional international locations, especially in Central Asia. Almaty's stunning mountain scenery, winter activities, adventure travel options, and better flight connections seem to be key reasons for its growing attraction among Indian travelers.

Agoda compared accommodation booking statistics from January to November 2025 with the same months in 2024. The results indicate a slow expansion of travel options, both within India and internationally, as people look for places that provide new adventures, local culture, and developing tourism facilities. Thiruvananthapuram is easily reachable by air, train, and road. The city's airport, Trivandrum International, serves both local and international flights, including those to the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Additionally, the city is an important railway hub, with direct train services from many major Indian cities, and has highways connecting it to other regions in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The most pleasant times to visit are from October to March, when the climate is cooler and less humid. The rainy season, which lasts from June to September, attracts visitors who enjoy green scenery and wellness retreats centered around Ayurveda, although heavy rains may restrict outdoor exploration. Thiruvananthapuram is perfect for visitors looking for cultural experiences, wellness, and a relaxed pace of travel. It is also great for those wanting a balanced schedule that mixes urban activities with easy access to beaches and nature, all without the busyness of overcrowded tourist spots.
