Passengers faced massive delays for rails on Thursday, due to the failure of Amtrak signal, outside the busiest commuter hub of the city. The problems are expected to continue till the Friday morning.
Due to the malfunction of the signal, passengers who were boarded on the commuter rail trains from south and west of Boston, compelled to get off the trains at stops before South Station. They were transferred to rapid transit lines or walk the remaining distance to reach their destinations on Thursday.
Amtrak also reported delays of 30 minutes to 2 hours on some trains, that are departing Boston for Northeast Corridor destinations, like, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and New York.
According to the state Department of Transportation, several city commuter rail trains would be unable to access South Station on Friday morning. The passengers should expect delays throughout the morning commute, the department added.
Massachusetts Governor, Charlie Baker, said that, he was ready to "strangle somebody."
"I'm just waiting for somebody who looks like they deserve to be strangled," Baker said during his monthly "Ask The Governor" segment on WGBH-FM.
