The introduced Agnipath Scheme triggered protests across the nation. At the time when the nation is protesting against the scheme, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the process of recruitment will start very soon. The entire Secunderabad railway station was vandalized and the estimated loss would be Rs 20 crores. The Centre is not in a mood to compromise and the protests intensified in seven states of the country. The protestors and students called for a Bharat Bandh tomorrow asking everyone to support the protests. Nirmala Sitharaman will also meet the GST Council on June 28th and 29th. She will review the NPA above Rs 100 crores on June 20th.

"#AgnipathScheme envisages youth upto 21 years of age to be enrolled for training and to serve the nation for a period of 4 years, with a provision of voluntary retention after this period, based on merit. Due to #COVID19 recruitments to the #ArmedForces had been impacted. Hence, @PMOIndia has taken a decision to increase, for the first year, the upper age limit to 23 years of age for the #AgnipathScheme. @PMOIndia has taken this step being sensitive to the aspirations of our youth. This decision will help our youth who had lost out on opportunities to serve the nation due to the pandemic.

Grateful for this timely and caring decision PM @narendramodi ji" posted Nirmala Sitharaman on her official social media page.
